On Tuesday during the impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate, President Trump’s attorney Pat Cipollone destroyed the Democrats’ case in just a few minutes.
Cipollone said, “They held these articles for 33 days. We hear all this talk about an ‘overwhelming case.’ An ‘overwhelming case’ that they’re not even prepared today to stand up and make an opening argument about.”
He continued, “We believe that once you hear those initial presentations, the only conclusion will be that the President has done absolutely nothing wrong. These articles of impeachment do not begin to approach the standard required by the Constitution, and in fact, they themselves will establish nothing beyond those articles. You look at those articles alone and you will determine that there is absolutely nothing no case.”
