Reporter says VA gun advocates chanted ‘we will not comply’ in video reciting Pledge of Allegiance

On Monday, during the massive gun grab protest in Richmond, Virginia, NBC News reporter Gabe Gutierrez posted a video of gun advocates reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

However, the caption in Gutierrez’s tweet read something much different. He wrote on Twitter, “Chants of ‘we will not comply’ from gun rights protesters in Richmond.”

Critics of the post took to Twitter to collectively raise their eyebrows at the NBC News reporter’s apparent mishap. Was this posted on purpose or just an error in uploading the incorrect video?

NRSC Senior Advisor Matt Whitlock wrote in response, “At some point this starts to feel like a concerted effort by major media companies to smear. Yesterday Ben Collins with a viral tweet calling this a ‘white nationalist rally.’ Today this guy tweets a video of the pledge of allegiance saying it’s a ‘we will not comply’ chant.”

Political strategist Caleb Hull wrote, “Gabe Gutierrez, who works for a network that has been screaming “resist!” for three years, is now very triggered by 5 people saying ‘we will not comply.’”
