On Sunday, NBC News published a radical left-wing opinion piece claiming Trump is racist, Trump voters are racist for following him, and because they are supposedly racist, they are violating the Constitution.
The author, Noah Berlarsky’s thesis is based on a theory by a mostly unknown law professor at the University of Baltimore Law, Terry Smith. He claims “racist voting is not just immoral, but illegal. The government, Smith says, has the ability, and the responsibility, to address it.”
Well, this alone sounds like another “gulag” moment, as we saw earlier this week with a Bernie Sanders staffer wanting to round up Trump voters and “re-educate” them in gulags
Berlarsky cites union elections, where if a person uses “race” to win, their votes are invalidated. A pretty idiotic concept.
He argues, “voters who pull the levers to harm black people are violating the Constitution. If the Constitution means that overt racist appeals undermine the legality of union elections, it stands to reason that they undermine the legality of other elections, as well.”
The argument made by Balarsky is that because a Trump used what he claims is “racist” language in 2016, such as saying the Mexican government “is not sending their best,” voters are willing to believe these “falsehoods.” This logic asserts that votes for Trump should not count.
Another idea proposed is expanding the “Voting Rights Act” to gerrymander black neighborhoods in the American South into district for a state-wide Senate race. Thus would “make it at least possible for black voters to elect a senator who would support their interests.”
The unconstitutional assertion made by Noah Balarsky should be noted, especially since it aims to take away rights of Trump voters by claiming they are racist. It’s just an absurdly false accusation.
