Joe Biden has recently shown outrage about President Trump’s constitutional action to take out Iranian terrorist General Qasem Soleimani. He claimed the President “does not have the authority to take us into war with Iran without Congressional approval,” despite the President taking the action in reaction to Soleimani plotting to try and attack America’s embassy in Baghdad, not to start a war.
But in 1995, then-Senator Biden actually introduced a bill to overhaul the War Powers Act and give Presidents the Authorization to Strike Terrorists. He called the power to repel an armed attack upon the US or it’s armed forces “inherent presidential powers.”
So, does the Vice President not remember sponsoring the legislation, or is he just changing his tune now, that President Trump holds those powers as President?
