Troops deploying to the Middle East after Iran threatens U.S.

On Friday, it was announced that more U.S. troops will deploy from the 82nd Airborne Division after Iran threatened the United States with “harsh retaliation” for taking out terrorist general Qasem Soleimani, who is responsible for 608 American deaths, and thousands of others in the Middle East.

CNN reports, “The additional troops will come from the Immediate Response Force of the 82nd Airborne Division. CNN has previously reported that these forces had been placed on prepare-to-deploy orders and would be sent to the region if the situation merited it.”

The previous troops sent to Iran totaled 650-750 according to conflicting news reports from CNN and NBC News. The remainder of the 3,000 unit will work to protect the region from state-run terrorism.
