Last month, Teen Vogue, a far-left publication published an op-ed by a racist “indigenous” feminist named Ruth Hopkins blaming historic battles between “white people” and indigenous people for recent mass shootings in America.
Bizarrely, Hopkins claims battles in the 1700s and 1800s between indigenous and American troops were “mass shootings” and people who had tools to defend themselves, be them bows and arrows, poison, fire, or other materials, are comparable to mostly unarmed and helpless citizens who survive mass shootings.
Without a single shred of proof at all, Hopkins blames white people and President Trump for mass shootings in our country. She writes, “America’s glorification and acceptance of gun violence often wears a white hood,” and “President Trump’s administration and his army of sycophants are responsible for this recent explosion of mass shootings. There’s no denying that many of the shooters are Trump supporters and his rallies are known for stoking hatred and vitriol.”
The slanderous accusations against the President and white people in general are quite jarring, especially coming from someone who has actively defended and supported Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), who culturally appropriated Native American heritage for her personal and political gain by claiming she is a Native American. Warren did a DNA test which showed she is only 1/2024th indigenous.
But Hopkins wrote, “No DNA test can point toward what tribe(s) you’re from. Each tribe has its own language, culture, history and system of kinship,” to defend Warren. She also said, “Warren is not claiming tribal membership. Rather, distant descendancy. This is her truth. She has shown that she is not fraud in that she has not used Native heritage to gain employment. Time to put down the pitchforks. I will support Warren as long as she fights for my People.”
By Hopkins’ definition, anyone who simply claims any heritage as “their truth” and advocates on the supposed needs of that community they are appropriating, they somehow are off-the-hook for taking away the opportunities set aside by that chosen population by fraudulently claiming that minority group.
Just by allowing this woman to publish such a slanderous and outrageously false claim on their dying publication (which is only online and not in print anymore), Teen Vogue has shown exactly why it is a failed publication which should be cast away with other embarrassments to journalism such as ThinkProgress and The Weekly Standard.
