In wake of the newly-released IG Report from Inspector General Horowitz, which uncovered complicity of former FBI Director James Comey in FISA court abuse, we look back to U.S. Representative’s strong words for Comey.
In January of 2017, James Comey appeared for a closed-door intelligence briefing in which he wouldn’t comment on multiple “basic questions” asked by the panel.
After the intelligence briefing, Rep. Maxine Waters seemed frustrated by Comey, saying “The FBI Director has no credibility” before angrily walking off from media, while angrily swiping her hands.
But now, as Waters is going after President Trump, Comey is ok with her, saying “I think it is quite different when you take a look at Comey and his relationship to the president, what he said, what he’s done. I believe him.”
Even the Washington Post ripped Waters’ 180 on Comey, writing, “So either she’s acknowledging that she is a bad judge of credibility (and probably shouldn’t be trusted to judge it today), or she’s admitting to a thoroughly convenient political evolution.”
