Nadler to miss House Rules Committee impeachment meeting due to ‘family emergency’

According to the Washington Post, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) will miss Tuesday’s House Rules Committee meeting setting out the rules for the Democrats’ impeachment floor vote expected this week.

A staffer from the House Rules Committee disclosed to the Post under the condition of anonymity, that they expect him to be back in Washington by Wednesday.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) will fill in for Nadler, whose committee approved two articles of impeachment last week.

The House Rules Committee, which is chaired by Democrat Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA), is heavily skewed against Republicans, with 9-4 Democrat majority.
