On Friday, Politico posted an article announcing their amazement that President Trump is working hard to earn votes in traditionally Democrat black neighborhoods, which have been historically ignored by many Republicans.
The article cites an ad placed by the Trump campaign in The Westside Gazette, Broward County, Florida’s black-owned and operated newspaper. Readers “couldn’t believe” that President Trump is courting votes from all Americans, including Democrats in black neighborhoods.
But some Democrats are claiming Trump’s efforts to earn minority votes is just a way to “suppress” the black vote, even though people can vote as they wish, regardless of their race.
Adrianne Shropshire, executive director of “Black PAC” tries to make the case, that “It really is about suppressing the black vote more than it is about bringing black voters out to support Trump.” No further explanation was given as to exactly how this would “suppress” the black vote, by simply showing black voters that they have another choice: Trump.
Politico cites a CNN article which alleges that (of course) Russians helped “suppress the black vote” in 2016 with Facebook bots, but that same article also makes clear “It’s impossible to say that the Russian influence campaign specifically changed the minds of African-American voters or turned them off to Clinton or that it didn’t play into divisions that were already festering in the country and the party.”
In November, Emerson and Rasmussen polls both confirmed that 34% of likely black voters are likely to vote for Trump, which may have sparked the Left’s freakout over his work to earn black votes.
The argument that Trump’s efforts with his new “Black Voices” initiative and robust campaigning in minority areas are merely an effort to “suppress” black votes, as Joe Biden would say, is a bunch of malarkey!
