According to Atlantic staff writer Edward-Isaac Dovere, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), is dropping out of the 2020 presidential race, ahead of the December Democrat primary debate in her home state of California.
Politico reports that Harris told her staff the news, and she will release a video announcement momentarily.
The news comes after Harris canceled a big-money New York fundraiser at a law firm this morning, described by her campaign as being canceled due to a “personal matter.”
Harris’s husband tweeted a photo of the couple after she drops White House bid, writing, “I’ve got you.”
Shortly after the news, Hillary Clinton wrote on Twitter, “To all the candidates, staff, and volunteers who have worked their hearts out for presidential campaigns that have ended—remember that fighting for what you believe in is always worth it.”
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
