UK terrorist previously convicted for Al-Qaeda plot to blow up London Stock Exchange

After Friday’s terrorist incident in London, where a man, who has now been identified as Usman Khan, stabbed multiple people while wearing a fake explosive vest, the city of London has been on high alert. This comes as world leaders, including President Trump are expected to visit the city for a NATO Summit.

It’s now been revealed that the suspect previously served time for terrorism. According to Reuters, “[Khan] convicted in 2012 for his part in an Al-Qaeda-inspired plot to blow up the London Stock Exchange. He was released in December 2018 subject to conditions.”

This news comes as the issue of terrorism will be front and center in the upcoming December 12 parliamentary elections, and stakes are high as London feels unsafe after the terror plot.

Two people – a man and a woman – were killed in the attack. In addition, a man and two women were injured and remain in hospital.
