In his first visit to Afghanistan , President Trump made a surprise Thanksgiving trip to the country to thank U.S. troops.
Trump visited Bagram Air Field, telling the men and women in uniform that they are “courageous American warriors.”
He continued, “I just want to say that we thank God for your help and all of the things that you’ve done. You’re very special people and you don’t even know how much the people of our country love and respect you.”
although American press thought Trump would spend his Turkey Day at Mar-a-lago with his family, he made the selfless gesture to instead honor the troops who will also be away from their families this Thanksgiving.
Trump said, “There’s nowhere I’d rather celebrate Thanksgiving than with the best and bravest warriors on Earth.”
