Sessions: ‘No senator will be more effective’ fulfilling Trump’s agenda

Former U.S. Attorney General and longtime Alabama senator Jefferson Beauregard Session, III (Jeff Session), joined Tucker Carlson on Thursday night’s Fox News show to talk about rumblings that he will run for his former seat in the U.S. Senate.

He previously sent out a press release on his campaign website on Thursday night also:

When I left President Trump’s cabinet, did I write a tell all book?  No. Did I go on CNN and attack the President? No. Have I said a cross word about President Trump?  No.

And I’ll tell you why: First, that would be dishonorable. I was there to serve his agenda, not mine. Second, the President is doing a great job for America and Alabama, and he has my strong support.

As everyone knows, President Trump and I have had our ups and downs. But here’s the important part: the President is doing great work for America.

When President Trump took on Washington, only one Senator out of a hundred had the courage to stand with him: me. I was the first to support President Trump. I was his strongest advocate. I still am. We must make America great again.

Our freedoms have never been under attack like they are today.  We have major party candidates for President campaigning on socialism, confiscating firearms, and closing down churches they disagree with.  I’ve battled these forces my entire life, and I’m not about to surrender now. Let’s go!

When asked about his recusal in the Russia investigation, he said, “no I did the thing I had to do at the Department o Justice… But it was painful for the president.”

Sessions continued, saying, “If I return to the Senate, no senator will be more effective on [fulfilling] Trump’s agenda than I will be.”

When asked about the impeachment inquiry, Sessions said, “I just cannot see an impeachment case here,” said Sessions, “I believe the President has conducted himself in this matter within the law.”

Sessions jumping into the crowded Republican field to retake the Alabama U.S. Senate seat will be a rough ride, but the former Senator is sure to give the voters one hell of a choice.
