Robert Francis O’Rourke drops out of 2020 Democrat primary

On Friday afternoon, Robert Francis O’Rourke, former Texas U.S. Rep dropped out of the 2020 Democrat primary for president, amid months of crippling poll numbers.

O’Rourke announced his intent to drop out via a Medium article, saying “Though it is difficult to accept, it is clear to me now that this campaign does not have the means to move forward successfully. My service to the country will not be as a candidate or as the nominee.”

He continued by listing the issues he focused his campaign on, including gun control, the “pride” of El Paso, and taking against President Trump.

O’Rourke follows Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) in their exit from the Democrat field.

President Donald Trump joker on Twitter about O’Rourke’s decision, writing, “Oh no, Beto just dropped out of race for President despite him saying he was ‘born for this.’ I don’t think so!”
