Harris’ anemic campaign fires dozens of aides, redeploys staff to Iowa

On Wednesday, it was reported that California Sen. Kamala Harris’ struggling presidential campaign is laying off dozens of staffers at her Baltimore headquarters, and re-deploying remaining staffers to Iowa, and her campaign manager Juan Rodriguez, who is currently making $10,000 a month is cutting his own cushy salary.

Harris’ campaign is re-negotiating agreements with vendors, and slashing overhead anywhere it possibly can in order to get it back up off the ground and launch a seven-figure media buy in the weeks before the Iowa caucus, her last hope of staying in the race.

According to Politico, “Harris is hoping to duplicate the successes of past campaigns that shed staff and came back to win primaries after near collapses the year before — and to avoid the fate of countless other hopefuls who spent too big early and faded late.”

Time will tell if Harris’ efforts to resuscitate her beleaguered campaign will be successful, as the Iowa caucuses are only four months away, with caucusing happening on February 3rd, 2020.

Harris’ cutbacks will either be the start of a successful move upward in the Democrat field or be the beginning notes to her swan song, waving goodbye at her presidential dreams.
